I first noticed the Longley Building from a parking lot in Woonsocket, late one night, looking for Chinese food. Those tall bay windows over Main Street stuck with me, and a few years later I came back to dig into the story.

Built in 1890, this was once the grandest building on Main Street. A ballroom upstairs, jewelry stores, an ice cream parlor, room for more than 30 tenants. Then it sat empty for decades and started falling apart. Now somebody's finally bringing it back.

This is the story of the Longley Building, and why it's worth looking up.
